Our History
Delta County Federal Credit Union is a member-owned, not-for-profit financial institution that serves the financial services needs of its members. The Credit Union is federally Insured by NCUA (National Credit Union Administration) for up to $250,000 per depositor.
Delta County Federal Credit Union came about as the result of a merger of three separate credit unions – all of which had been serving parts of the Delta County Colorado community for many years. The oldest, but smallest of these three, was the Hotchkiss Community Federal Credit Union, which was formed by a cooperative of area farmers and ranchers and had served the Hotchkiss, Crawford and Maher communities since 1936. Delta Federal Credit Union had served the Delta and Surface Creek communities since 1951; while the largest of the three, Joint District 50 Federal Credit Union, had been serving the Delta County Joint School District #50 since 1958.
In 2001, the members of the three credit unions voted to join forces under the charter of Joint District 50 Federal Credit Union, and at the same time, change the name of the surviving institution to Delta County Federal Credit Union, while expanding the charter to expressly serve all those who live, work, worship or attend school in Delta County Colorado, and members of their immediate families.
